Why Fly in YXY?
Spectacular Scenery, unforgettable Experiences
Whitehorse is known for its world-class breathtaking views and scenery. From endless mountain ranges, emerald lakes, wildlife, waterfalls to glaciers; this unique and beautiful landscape provides the perfect backdrop to your flight training. We believe that our students should not only receive high quality, safe training, but they should have an unforgettable experience and create memories to last a lifetime.
mountain flying skills
Mountain flight training is extremely valuable and essential for any aspiring pilot. While mountain flying is visually stunning and exciting, it is important to have the right knowledge and skillset to navigate the ever-changing meteorological and flight conditions. All our flight instructors have mountain flying experience, and will teach you to master the art of mountain flying.
Airport and Airspace
Whitehorse International Airport (CYXY) has three runways, a control tower, and ample large practice areas just minutes from the airport, which makes is a great location for student pilots. The location of the airport allows students to use their flight training time efficiently, with less time transiting to-and-from practice areas and more time practicing flight exercises.
Aircraft traffic is far quieter compared to many other larger airports, allowing for fast clearance times, minimal-if-any wait times, and an exceptionally safe training environment.
Whitehorse is within close reach of many aerodromes and airfields for navigation flights. The abundance of unique landing areas provides students with experience landing on paved, gravel, grass, snow and ice runways in both controlled and uncontrolled airspace. Our students are able to experience a controlled modern international airport and bush flying all in the same day!
